The second annual global research conference, “Communicating Beyond Borders: Building Relationships Among Corporations, NGO’s and Governments” was held on April 20 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This day-long conference explored the complexities and strategies in establishing and maintaining intercultural, international and global relationships in a variety of settings.
The conference began with roundtable research presentations and discussions featuring top practitioners and leading scholars. Represented institutions included: Ketchum Public Relations, Fusion Communications, Purdue University, the University of Georgia, the University of Oregon, Rowan University, Drake University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Florida, University of the Pacific, Aarhus University (Denmark), Virginia Commonwealth University, Clemson University, Ball State University, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Topics included corporate communication, social media, corporate social responsibility, employee/internal communication and public diplomacy.
Marco Herrera, president and CEO of Grupo Public, a PR firm based in Mexico City, served as the keynote speaker.
We also explored the PR practice in various regions of the world (including the Middle East, Europe and Latin America) with our global panel, featuring Joe Epley, APR, Fellow PRSA (Epley Consulting); Dr. Juan Carlos Molleda (University of Florida); Dr. Alma Kadragic (Zayed University, Dubai); and Oliver Schmidt (C4CS).
